I like the 21st.century, the
accelerated technological explosion, the present generation and above all the
infants and the toddlers. Stephen Hawking has rightly said,” It is clear that we
are just an advanced breed of monkeys…..” The fact is that this children galaxy is more advanced than us. Their
advancement is in logarithmic progression.
I
find my one year maternal granddaughter fondling with the smart phone. She at
least knows for sure that touching screen would make the Utube video disappear.
She manages her soother while sleeping so that it behaves to her desire.
My
two year old grandson has a way of his own. One day, his dad was showing him
some video on the desk top. He was holding his son’s hand to refrain him from
handling the mouse or the keyboard. But he was unaware that his child was using
his toes to adjust bass/treble and volume on the console underneath the table.
One
afternoon both father and son went for a short nap. After one hour, I went to
their room. I found the child staring at the roof while his father was asleep.
When I entered the room, the child put his forefinger on his lips and cautioned
me to not to make any noise lest his father’s sleep would be disturbed.
Such
a scenario development would certainly expect something more surprising from a
five year old. My
maternal grandson Sai was denied his choice toy. While returning from the mall,
Sai sitting in the back seat asked me if I had a piece of rope. When I asked
the reason, he said that he would love to see his dad’s hands tied with the
rope. My son-in-law was aghast. After a little while, Sai asked- “Dad! What is
your age?” Dad replied that he was 35.
Sai
then asked- “Dad! When I would be of your age then would I have a son of my age?”
Dad
replied in affirmative and asked the reason to think about so distant a future.
Sai
replied- “When I would have a son of my age I shall never ever deny him a toy
of his asking.”
